Bookbinding yarn: machine yarn & hand yarn

Bookbinding yarn is used to bind pages together. This is done either with a machine or by hand. We have 2 different types of bookbinding yarn in our range:

Machine yarns

Our range includes Styhafil machine yarns. These polyester yarns are used by the graphics industry and are threaded into books with a machine. These yarns are also used for textiles. We offer Styhafil yarn in 2 colours, both measuring 7,500 metres in length per reel.

Hand yarn

Aside from machine yarn, we also supply hand yarn. These linen yarns are also used in books. Hand yarns are used with a stitching awl and bookbinding needle. Use the awl to press holes into the paper before stitching the yarn through the holes with a bookbinding needle. These hand yarns vary in length from 180 metres to 500 metres and have a thickness of between 0.3 mm and 0.5 mm.
